Ingredients

  • 2 cups Organic Ketchup
  • ¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ¼ cup Brown Coconut Sugar or regular brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Liquid Smoke
  • 1 teaspoons Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher Salt see note
  • ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Pinch of Cayenne Pepper

Instructions

  • Whisk together the bbq sauce ingredients in a large pot and bring to a light simmer over medium heat. Lower the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened. Whisking occasionally.
  • If you prefer a thicker bbq sauce, leave as is. If you prefer a thinner bbq sauce, add a splash of water until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Take off the heat and allow it to cool completely and then store in an airtight jar for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Important Note about Salt: Not all salts are made equal and cannot be substituted 1:1. If you are substituting table salt for kosher salt, you will need to cut the amount called for in the recipe by at least half.
