This easy homemade Vegan BBQ Sauce is sweet, tangy and smoky and ready in just minutes with simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for brushing on tofu, veggies, or plant-based burgers, it beats store-bought versions every time!
Whisk together the bbq sauce ingredients in a large pot and bring to a light simmer over medium heat. Lower the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.Whisking occasionally.
If you prefer a thicker bbq sauce, leave as is. If you prefer a thinner bbq sauce, add a splash of water until the desired consistency is reached.
Take off the heat and allow it to cool completely and then store in an airtight jar for upto 2 weeks.
Notes
Important Note about Salt: Not all salts are made equal and cannot be substituted 1:1. If you are substituting table salt for kosher salt, you will need to cut the amount called for in the recipe by at least half.
