It couldn’t be easier to make Vegan Hot Honey! It has the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, making it a great drizzle for everything from roasted veggies to pizza, or a flavorful addition to your favorite marinades and sauces.
Add the agave syrup and crushed red chili flakes to a medium saucepan. Heat gently until it just begins to bubble around the edges, then immediately remove from the heat.
Let it steep for at least 15 minutes, then strain out the red chili flakes. If you prefer a spicier hot honey, you can leave them in. Just keep in mind it will get hotter as it sits.
Stir in the apple cider vinegar, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Once cooled, pour into a jar and refrigerate. Keeps well for up to 2 months.
Notes
Important Note about Salt: Not all salts are made equal and cannot be substituted 1:1. If you are substituting table salt for kosher salt, you will need to cut the amount called for in the recipe by at least half.
