While I personally experience numerous benefits from ginger shots, especially when I'm not feeling my best, it's crucial to note that I'm not a medical professional.
Therefore, I strongly advise consulting with a healthcare professional if you have any questions or concerns before incorporating ginger shots into your diet.

Ingredients
This simple homemade wellness shot is made up of lemon, orange, carrot, ginger, and turmeric.
Simply toss all the ingredients into the blender, blend, and then strain. Easy as that!
Ginger: Fresh ginger root will give the ginger shots a spicy flavor. 3 ounces is just a guide, go wild and add more if you want it spicier!
Carrot: Carrots add some natural sweetness and nice color. They are also pretty healthy so that's cool, too.
Orange and Lemon: Peel the orange and lemon (remove any seeds) and throw it whole into the blender. No need to juice it!
Water: This is added to help the ingredients blend.
Turmeric & Black Pepper: You can use fresh turmeric root but ground works just as well. Always add black pepper, this helps your body absorb the benefits.
Cayenne: Just a hint! It's optional but I love tossing it in there for more heat.
Mineral Salt: Optional. I use Redmond Real Sea Salt.
See recipe card for quantities.
Helpful Equipment
You don't need an elaborate juicer to make this recipe.
A simple blender and a tool to strain out the bits will do the trick.
Personally, I use a nut milk bag, but a fine mesh strainer works just as well!
How to Make This Recipe
Start your day with a burst of energy from these turmeric, lemon, and ginger wellness shots!
They offer a simple and homemade pick-me-up using basic ingredients and a blender.
The full written recipe can be found in the recipe card below.
Step 1: Add the lemons, orange, carrots, ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper, black pepper, mineral salt, and water into a blender.
Step 2: Blend until relatively smooth, some texture will remain.
Step 3: Strain the juice through a fine-mesh strainer or a nut milk bag into a measuring cup or bowl. Use a spoon or squeeze the nut milk bag to strain out as much juice as possible then discard the pulp.
Step 4: Each shot serving is 2-ounces then store the leftovers in an airtight jar for up to 3 days.
Note: Ginger shots have a lot of benefits and make me feel great when I'm feeling a little under the weather. But I'm not a doctor so please always consult with a medical professional before taking ginger shots if you have any questions or concerns.
Substitutions & Variations
Feel free to customize these immunity shots to use up what you have in the fridge.
Add greens: Blend in some kale or spinach to make a green wellness shot.
Add herbs: Mint would be good!
Change up the fruit: Instead of orange, try pineapple or apple.
Storage
Store: Store leftover shots in an airtight jar for up to 3 days. A serving side is 2-ounces.
Freeze: Pour the wellness shot juice into ice cube trays and freeze until solid. Transfer the frozen cubes to a ziplock bag and freeze for up to 1 month.
You can thaw the cubes in the refrigerator overnight and take the shot as normal or add a frozen cube to a mug and pour over hot water to create an immunity tea!
Tips & Tricks
Turmeric stains! Turmeric can stain plastic items like your blender, skin, cutting boards, and nut milk bag- use glass when possible and rinse everything immediately.
To protect your hands, fingers, and nails from turning orange, consider wearing gloves. I did not do this and ended up with stained hands!
I scrubbed with a mixture of baking soda and lemon then massaged my hands with olive oil. I'm not sure which worked best but the stain was gone by the end of it. If you find yourself in this situation, hope it helps!
Strain it well. Straining the shot mixture helps remove all the bits of ginger peel and missed lemon seeds. To get the most juice possible, strain through a nut milk bag and squeeze it to remove all the liquid!
Chill before serving: Refrigerate the shots for a while before serving. This makes it a little more palatable.
Use fresh ingredients when possible: Use fresh lemons and ginger for the best flavor and health benefits. Turmeric root is a little harder to find so I often use ground turmeric instead.
Don't forget a pinch of black pepper to enhance turmeric absorption.
Frequently Asked Questions
I recommend reading this article by professionals to read more about the health benefits of ginger shots. They have healthy ingredients but I often use them for more of a "pick me up" in the morning when I'm low energy or if I'm feeling a little under the weather.
I don't recommend ground ginger. Fresh ginger has a more vibrant, spicy flavor.
Generally, ginger shots are taken as quick shots due to their concentrated and potent nature. This one isn't too strong because of the added orange and carrot.
