Ingredients
Combine frozen strawberries, bananas, almond milk, and vanilla extract to make this creamy delicious smoothie. It tastes like a strawberry milkshake!
Strawberries: I always freeze my fresh strawberries whole even with the green leafy part! You can't taste it so no need to waste time cutting them off.
Banana: Make sure your banana is brown and spotty before freezing. The banana adds sweetness and creaminess but isn't overpowering.
Almond Milk: The liquid base of our smoothie is almond milk. I recommend unsweetened vanilla almond milk or unsweetened original.
Maple Syrup: Just a touch of sweetness.
Vanilla Extract: For added flavor. Don't forget to add a pinch of salt!
Helpful Equipment
You'll need a high-speed blender for this simple strawberry smoothie recipe. I recommend and use a NutriBullet Pro.

Substitutions & Additions
Smoothies are an incredibly versatile quick breakfast or mid-day snack with lots of health benefits!
Feel free to incorporate your favorite ingredients into this strawberry banana smoothie recipe or transform it into a vibrant smoothie bowl with toppings of your choice.
Strawberries: You can switch up the strawberries for any fruit. Mango, pineapple, and fresh berries would be great. It would no longer be a strawberry smoothie of course but this recipe does provide a great base for a wide variety of smoothies.
Bananas: Not a fan of bananas? The banana doesn't add much flavor- it's there for creaminess. But you can substitute it with vegan yogurt if desired. You will need to add more maple syrup if you use unsweetened. Vegan strawberry yogurt would be a great addition.
Maple Syrup: Agave or pitted dates will work in replace of maple syrup. Use your sweetener of choice or omit it altogether.
Almond Milk: Oat milk, cashew milk, soy milk, and coconut milk are great options. You can even try orange juice or coconut water but note that the smoothie won't be as creamy.
Add-Ins: Blueberries, spinach, chia seeds, protein powder, and peanut butter or almond butter would be delicious!
Tips & Tricks
Use frozen fruit: Frozen fruit helps create a thick and creamy texture. You can buy pre-packaged frozen fruit or freeze your own.
To make a thinner smoothie: Add more almond milk.
To make a thicker smoothie: Add a bit more frozen strawberries or bananas. Or try adding a scoop of almond butter.
Enjoy immediately or store properly: Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately after blending to retain their freshness and nutritional value. However, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

This almond milk smoothie recipe makes 1 large serving or 2 small servings.
Storage: This smoothie is best served immediately but can be stored in an airtight jar for up to 24 hours.
Freeze: This smoothie can be frozen. I recommend freezing it in an ice cube tray and then popping them out into a blender with a splash of almond milk and blending until smooth and creamy.
